Running Holiday Breakfast and a Cookie Exchange

Wow today was crazy busy. If this day didn’t put me in the holiday spirit I don’t know what would!

I met my some of my running group at 7:00 for a run. We did 10 easy miles. Then we headed over to this lovely lady’s house for our annual running group holiday breakfast where the rest of our group was. They started at 6:30. Hey, those extra 30 minutes make a difference!

Afterwards I had to get ready for holiday party #2 – a Holiday Cookie Exchange! The red velvet white chocolate chip cookies turned out amazing! I’ll post the recipe soon!

We did holiday trivia & guess who won. Well I tied with another girl. My competitivness came out. Then we did blindfolded gift wrapping. That was hilarious!

But we had a blast! Can you believe all the cookies??

A Lazy Sunday, Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, & My Training

And some cinnamon roll pancakes! I thought, “hey, it’s my last day of vacation, gotta make me an awesome breakfast!” Do you ever make stuff you find on Pinterest and it doesn’t quite turn out how you expected? That was my breakfast. I’ve been drooling over these cinnamon roll pancakes for a while. But something was off, too much butter maybe cause the filling was a bit runny. So mine looked like this…


Sad but kinda funny, huh. They actually tasted amazing. I think I just have to work on my technique. 🙂


I spent the rest of my day watching movies on the couch preparing myself to get back to work tomorrow.

Running… my long run didn’t happen yesterday. We had a family crisis. Our family dog, really my mom’s dog was really sick. But hopefully he’s on the way to getting better. He’s the little brother I never had.


My long run didn’t happen today either. Between my gym being closed & no one to run with today it’s a wash. And I’m okay with that.

After hitting 46 miles last week, them down to a measley 8 miles this week between my injury & family stuff, I’m ready to get back on track. And my half marathon is next weekend. Hmmmm…. this week my goal is to get some easy runs & a bit of speed work in. Its been a couple years since I’ve tapered for a half. Ugh I should’ve done my research before now. So not like me…

For those of you that have been on vacation and gotta get up early and go back to work tomorrow, good luck! I feel your pain! I think one more week I would’ve been good.

Finally a Run & Girl Talk & Sushi

After five whole days off resting my knee after Saturday’s run-in with the sidewalk. Lol, get it? Run-in. Heeh. Yeeeeah, I digress…. So it was time to see how it would do. I was able to do 8 miles without any pain. I was actually more tired than I was in any pain. Maybe it was all that turkey right?

After my run I rushed to meet a friend for some girl talk & sushi. It was soooo good! I think we could’ve talked for hours but she had to get to work. Which I am not looking forward to next Monday & getting back to the real world.


I managed to be good to my bank account this year & stay away from the Black Friday sales.

We Ate, Now We Rest

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving!

I spent mine at my aunt’s house. Most of the day my job was keeping my mom & aunt in line helping them with the cooking.


After my cousin carved the turkey. We did Thanksgiving Day justice! I’ll have to say my favorite food was my aunt’s homemade stuffing & my cousin’s hershey bar cake!


We spent the great of the evening relaxing & checking out the black Friday ads. (just window shopping).

Congratulations to those that ran a Turkey Trot this morning! You earned your turkey & pie! I can’t say that I earned it but I’m sure gonna enjoy it! I hope you do too!

Sixth Time’s the Charm

Sorry about that prematurely published post before!

Anywho… it’s good to be back! It’s vacation time, almost Turkey Day. Can it get any better? Well… maybe a little better.  I’ll start from the beginning

Last week was super crazy trying to get a lot of work done before my vacation this week. So that’s why I’ve been quiet in the blog world. Since its my first week off well year it was a long time coming. I like to save a lot of vacation for the holidays which is great when the time finally comes.

So fast forward to my long run this Saturday.  18 miles was the plan.  I set off with five other awesome ladies.  We get to an area that is all too familiar to me….  picture that blurry flashback effect from tv.


Just to clarify, I’m c.l.u.m.s.y.  Sometimes Good Luck Chuck clumsy.  August 2012 my first fall in years while I’m running happened.  I skinned my knee like you did when you were five years old. So between August and March 2013 I fell a total of five times. All but one of those happened in the same area. Broken sidewalk & me not picking up my feet high enough. All with the classic superman form. The last fall in March was the worst. After each of these falls I kept running on it. I never cut a run short. Even when I should have. My adrenalin was going so I didn’t really feel the pain until I stopped running. Except that last fall.  It was swollen & messy.  I felt the pain towards the end of the run. I took a few days off, tried running again & I was good. I ran a marathon the next weekend.

A couple months later that knee was tender & had a knot on my knee cap so I had it checked out before I started to ramp up my running again. Come to find out I have a patellar retinacular tare, basically scar tissue that can occur when you have a dislocated knee cap. Yeah… so I ran a marathon after dislocating my knee cap. That was a wake up call. Runners are pretty hardheaded.  My doctor was more concerned about the amount of times I had fallen. He did some neurological tests which were normal. Needless to day if I continued to fall my knees would get bad.

8 months later I hadn’t fallen once!  Now back to last Saturday, only 4 miles in.  I guess I got too comfortable, talking & not paying attention.  I did my classic superman move. Both knees took the force, and my hands.  I finished my 18, went straight home , iced up.

So I’ve taken the past three days off since it still swells when I’m on it for a while.  I dont think I’ll be running that path any more.

I’m enjoying sleeping late, baking, & relaxing. I do get some exercise guilt but it doesn’t last long. I plan to lace up Friday so we’ll see how that goes.

I made this awesome peanut butter banana bread I found on Pinterest. Some chocolate chips would’ve been great but I didn’t have any.:(


Then I made some french toast with that banana bread for breakfast.  Oh yes I did!


Thanksgiving prep is in full effect. Got my Honeybaked Ham Store turkey breast.  They’re sooo good.  So I’ve got some cooking to do!

Top Ten Thursday #2

Happy Thursday!  How ecstatic are you that the holidays are here?  I love this time of year.  Don’t get me wrong I miss my extra hours of sunlight for running outside and I don’t enjoy the extra time I’m forced to spend on the treadmill.  But I love the colder weather and the leaves turning AND the holidays!  Are you sick of pumpkin yet?  Nope?  Me either!  I don’t think I could get sick of it.

Here’s my top ten fav’s of the week!

1.  The count down is on!  6 work days until vacation and I have a whole week off and then it’s Turkey Day!!

2.  My Orly Fowl Play nail polish!  For some reason I tend to be on a purple streak lately.  But I’m not necessarily a “purple” girl…  I also tend to be leaning towards darker polish.  I think after a while you get tired of pinks or neutrals.

3. IHOP’s cinnastack pancakes from last weekend were absolutely delicious.  I think I could eat them every day but I’d have to up my mileage…

4.  Oatmeal with apple or strawberries & sunflower seed butter!  I swear I could eat oatmeal every day and not get sick of it!

10837624996_59caf20068_b5.  Big Bang Theory.  Sheldon always makes me laugh.  I swear I could watch reruns all day long.  I’m loving the new episodes though!!

6.  My sister.  Did I already say how proud I am of her? 🙂

7.  My Samsung S4 camera!  I found myself using the camera on my phone more than my actual camera this weekend.  The pictures always come out so good.  But what does that say about my current camera?  That may be an idea for Santa.

8.  BIC bands.  I have long hair that has a mind of it’s own.  Especially when I run.  These are the only things that will keep my hair in place.  The best thing: each month they donate some from the sale of each band to a different charity!  The sparkle ones are my favorite.  I like to be a little blinged out when I run. 🙂

9.  Christmas in the stores already!?  I was in Wal-mart last week and it hit me how much it finally feels like the holidays.  They had Christmas music playing, food and decorations every where.  I know it’s crazy they have it out so early and I feel like it takes some away from Thanksgiving.  But I do love me some Christmas.  I’m one of those crazy people who could listen to Christmas music everyday starting November 1st!

10.  These beautiful fall leaves.  Although they’re almost all fallen off now.  I love running in the fall!

Mother Daughter Weekend & A Proud Sister!

I can’t begin to tell you how proud of my sister I am!  These were her first actual soccer games and she did awesome!  She was a little nervous at first but seeing her and those kids out there playing their best was so inspirational.  With their disabilities they’re still able to go out there and have fun and not let those things hold them back.  I think they can teach quite a few people some important lessons.

“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” 

I had to refuel between games 🙂

We had a great trip together and enjoyed loads of mother-daughter time.

Did I enjoy myself and not let eating anxiety get to me?  Um… yeah.  🙂 All though the whip cream had to go it was a bit too much but the pancakes were AH-mazing!  Did I gain 10lbs over the weekend?  Nope!  Aaaand I made it back without pulling all my hair out! LOL!  Just kidding!
